Women Lead

Launched in 2019, Women Lead empowers women street vendors and petty shop owners in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts to strengthen their livelihoods, gain financial stability, and lead their communities with confidence. The project supports women to improve both their personal well-being and their small enterprises, making them profitable, scalable, and sustainable.

Women vendors and micro-entrepreneurs, many of whom are single earners, face daily struggles with long working hours, unsafe environments, and harassment. They often lack access to government schemes, sanitation facilities, and financial literacy, while juggling family responsibilities. Many also experience social stigma and domestic abuse, leaving them with little support to grow their businesses or achieve stability.

Women street vendors, petty shop owners, and micro-entrepreneurs in Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts, particularly those from low-income or single-parent households.

Awareness sessions on education, nutrition, health, and hygiene.
Training in enterprise management – covering pricing, marketing, and packaging.
Linkages to government welfare schemes and financial institutions.
Digital and financial literacy training for improved access to online transactions.
Mentoring and peer-support groups for collective problem solving.

Supported 300 women and their families to strengthen and grow their small businesses.
Improved income levels and living standards through enterprise expansion.
Enhanced women’s bargaining power, financial independence, and leadership within their communities.
Created new local employment opportunities for women and youth.
