Volunteering with Children

We welcome your kindness and spirit of service at any of our many centers throughout the Bangalore area.  Many types of assistance are needed. See the list below.

Our largest center is Nisarga Grama, located in the North-West part of Bangalore, about 35km from the Bangalore International Airport. In addition, we operate schools, residential centers, and shelters as described on this site.  Rolls and responsibilities for volunteers include:

  • Teaching personality development, yoga and meditation
  • Engaging children to speak in English
  • Providing the children with computer training
  • Identifying the children’s skills and helping to develop them
  • Motivating the children to develop innovations in science
  • Helping children to develop their creativity in arts and crafts
  • Sharing knowledge of agriculture and landscape
  • Raising awareness on health and hygiene issues and maintain cleanliness in the community
  • Counseling the children about their skills and future career
  • Engaging children in learning activities in both Kannada and English
  • Coaching for syllabus
  • Teaching theatre
  • Teaching any subject using digital media

Volunteering for Admin and Organizational Development

We need volunteers to help in the office with the administration and organizational development. We welcome volunteers who have a special interest in any of the following activities:

  • Participate in regular meetings with staff
  • Work to develop the centre infrastructure
  • Plan exposure programs in learning, organize children excursions, lead health check-ups, conduct or host sports activities, enroll children to school.
  • Work with staff to maintain all the documentation
  • Get involved in fundraising activities to improve the facilities
  • Actively work on our website, Facebook Page, Twitter and any other communication
